Style & Home Tips for the Holiday Season!

TOP: These are the samples that P&G sent me to try. CENTER: This is a hostess gift I made from the candle, see directions below. BOTTOM: Robert Verdi and Katie Lee!
Last month I got word that Procter & Gamble was looking for bloggers to join in a live webcast with Robert Verdi...he just  happens to be one of my favorite TV personalities and I couldn't help but sign up! He is one of those celebs that seems genuine and funny, I love his personality so I absolutely had to find out if he was the same in person - well, cyber-person that is.

The answer? YES! I joined a group of other bloggers and we were able to ask him all kinds of questions about holiday style and such. In addition the gorgeous Katie Lee was also there to share her tips for accommodating guests during the season. Robert and Katie are working with P&G to share some of their must-have products and tips to prepare for a festive holiday season! Here are my favorite tips they shared:

      - Be foolproof with food stains! During the season when you are out and about at events and parties, keep a Tide To Go Stain Remover in your purse. This was brilliant for me - I have big chichis and I swear, I can't finish a meal without spilling something on my chest and staining my blouse for the rest of the day. TMI? Sorry, but it's true!

- "Luxury is not a price tag, it's a feeling." I loved this quote from Robert, he said enjoying the holidays is all about the experience and how you interact with others and show kindness and warmth, that's the real luxury. Thoughtful touches go a long way

- Prepare to be fashionable!  Robert suggests that every woman develop at least one day-to-night look to get her through the holiday season.

- Plus size jeans! Someone asked about chubby legs and straight leg jeans vs. flared. Robert told us that it's not a one-rule kind of thing, it's more about what you wear with your jeans that make them look flattering. Consider your shoes (heels add height and give a slimming effect), blouse length (cover those hips!) and even jewelry to draw attention up and pull the look together. However - he did say that flared jeans will de-emphasize a big booty! Thank you, Robert!

- Stock up on cleaning/air freshener supplies early. Katie said that by the time the big day nears, we'll be busy with lots of last minute details. so whatever you can do ahead of time, the better. If you plan on having guests over, look into the Febreze Holiday Collections (P&G sent me the Cranberries & Frost to try out!).

- Build in extra time so YOU can get glammed up.  This was a smart tip from Katie.
She says on average, we attend four parties or events during the winter holiday season, so ensure you’re always photo-ready by taking great care of your skin, hair and smile. How many times are you running so late that you barely have time to freshen up or get dressed up? This is me. I burn through my to-do list and then next thing I know, it's time to leave to a party or event and I don't get to dress  up the way I planned. Since the webinar, I now stop my to-do list one hour early to give me breathing room. Yay! I finally have time to apply more than tow coats of mascara!

- Make and store easy gifts that are ready to go. This is another Katie tip. She said many times a friend will pop over with a gift, and you should always have something on hand to give back. She suggested making a big batch of gourmet granola and package it in mason jars with cute labels and ribbons. I would prefer a crafty version like this! A jar of crafty goodies - OMG, I'm so making this asap!

Procter & Gamble sent me a gift pack of their new Febreze Holiday Collection. It's a great idea to buy all the different products in the same scent - especially if you love it. Sometimes I get so excited for the season that I buy one of every scent and then my nose freaks out. This is the first time I actually had three in the same theme, much easier on the senses, lol!
