I'm kicking off a new series this month called "Mexi-Halloween" - it's a super cool series for the season themed around Mexican pop art. Here is my first project - Glittered Papel Picado Pumpkins! At first I was planning to decoupage small papel picado banners on the pumpkins but when I didn't have the right size, I decided to paint them. To make this, you'll need a pencil, acrylic paints,
Aleene's Original Tacky Glue, glitter and assorted paintbrushes. Draw the design and then fill in with paint, coat the center design with the glue and add glitter and you're done!
Here are some more pictures...

This is after I finished painting the design. It looked pretty blah so I decided to add some sparkle! |

Finished version, much better don't you think? |
I made these on mini-pumpkins, so I was a bit limited in size. I think it would be easier on a larger pumpkin. Hope you like them! If so, please help me share them! Get ready for more "Mexi-Halloween" projects, I'm planning to finish them this weekend!
Hello Crafty Chica,
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog but loving what I am seeing. These pumpkins are adorable. Hosting a Dia de los Muertos craft party for the kids. Perhaps some of the older kids would tackle this project. Thanks for the inspiration.
