She's a great example of sticking with your gut instinct and never giving up. Also, that no matter how much the odds are against you, you keep going because you can't think of doing anything else. Passion. I love those underdog stories!
Tonight here is Phoenix is a screening of her movie and I have two passes. May and I were going to go but our car broke down this weekend and it's in the shop! I'd love to pass them along to someone who wants to go.
Also, I have a Katy Perry prize pack to give away too!
- 2 Tattoos Sheets
- A Hoodie
- 2 Iphone Skins
- Beach Ball
- T-Shirt
- A Colored Hair Streak

One of my favorite underdog stories, is the story of Bethany Hamilton (Soul Surfer). I love how she didn't let a shark bite ruin her dreams and love how through the experiences she became stronger in her faith.
ReplyDeleteI think her story is one of the most inspiring and true underdog stories.
Thanks so much for the chance to win!

My favorite underdog story is President Obama (I don't want to get political here). He didn't come from a rich or political background, son of an Kenyan immigrant, and immigrant himself when he lived in Indonesia as a child. He worked his way up in politics and I had the chance to meet Michelle once when she came to my university, and said that they both had students loans that they didn't pay till Obama wrote a best seller (Dreams from My Father). He's so relatable and proves that anyone can make it, no matter what!

ReplyDeleteMy fav underdog story is of my mom. She immigrated here from mexico when she was 19 and pregnant with me. She was a single mom never gave up on school is now a hrad teacher in a day care and continues to go to school to get her masters. She instilled a great sense of desire to not give up. I am now a mom of a four year old and have enrolled in nursing school.

Wow...what an inspiration! This is a movie that my daughter MUST SEE. She has had a trying year...I'm sure this will give her the motivation she needs to press on! Thaks for the contest too!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI also want to see the movie, we saw her in concert last year and my preteen loved it. My underdog story is about my oldest daughter...born to a poor single parent she overcame bad eye sight and has earned her master's degree and is working with the county helping juveniles stay out of prison. She is my inspiration!

I would pick you, Kathy! I started following you 5 years ago when I somehow found you and became interested in DOTD and Mexican folk art at the same time! I think you have expanded your talent and outlets so much over the years and are widely 'recognized' now with the cruises, books, products at Michaels (none of my Michaels in Ky though :( ), website and blog. you are my main 'go to' for inspiration and ideas. Thanks so much <3
