INSPIRATION FRIDAY: Papel picado dresses and more!

Inspiration from around the interwebs!

1. Papel-picado dresses from Outsapop.com
From Outsapop: Papel picado ("cut/perforated paper") is the Mexican art of papercutting into elaborate designs. The designs are commonly cut from thin tissue paper. Themes includes birds, floral designs, and skeletons. Paper cutting is one of those hobbies that an averige person just does not have the time or patience, but if you have the passion for it amazing things will be created. This technique is not just for paper craft but fashio designers have also taken inspiration from it to create similar looks from lasercut fabrics and leather. These dresses are by Brazilian fashion designer Ronaldo Fraga, his SS10 collection. Found via Ullabenulla.

2. Viva Greetings.
This is a stationery site that designs and sells the cutest notecards, wrapping paper and journals all with Latinocentric themes. It's actually part of BigCartel, which is a place where you can open your own stationery store!

3. LatinaBookClub.com
This is a site dedicated to Latina authors. I loved this site so much and wanted to share, but noticed they didn't have a badge, so I made one for them! Visit the site to find insightful reviews and interviews and hopefully ideas for new books for you to read that celebrate the American spirit from a Latina's perspective!

4. PosterText.com
This is sooo cool, especially if you are a lover of literature. PosterText.com takes classic books and turns them into posters. See all the grey? That is actually the first 23 chapters of the book. The silhouette in the middle shows the spirit of the book!

5. Fiber artist, Theresa Oceguera

"As a frustrated artist without a medium, I tried knitting and crocheting. I became interested in felting knitted work. Eventually, I discovered a less expensive and physically taxing way of felting...recycled woolen sweaters. I love working with the unpredictable array of patterns and colors that sweaters offer--not one is the same. I hope you love my work as much as I love making it." -Theresa Oceguera
I had the pleasure of meeting Theresa in Los Angeles last month! She makes these wonderful pillows from old sweaters and they are all in Mexicana pop style! I also met other fabulous artistas, i'll be sharing their work too, very soon! Visit Theresa's site here.

Felicidades,
