Kung Fu Panda Contest Winner!
Congrats to Janice Ogata. She was the 10th person to email me for this prize.
Dreamworks and Allied Advertising were very generous and sent ANOTHER Kung Fu Panda prize pack! I know you all loved the movie because it was #1 at the box office last week!
Leave a comment TODAY sharing your favorite thing to do with glitter. Tonight I'll put all your names in a hat and draw one out.
UPDATE: Between these entries and the ones from MySpace, I drew one winner out of the hat and it was...drumroll...: Maria Isabel! Congrats!

You mean besides use it as eyeshadow and lipstick (my dd's fav things)? Um, anything at all. I love glitter, glitter glue especially. Anything I make with wings usually gets glitter on the wings. Eves on houses, over words on Altered book pages... I could go on and on.
ReplyDeleteI glitter paper-mache stars and hang 'em from the ceiling.
ReplyDeleteHow can you not like glitter?
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a nursery school teacher, I used to do a thing I called "glitter-fest." We would collect a pile of little recycle stuff- tp tubes, egg cartons, silk flowers, pipe cleaners...Then we'd get out the glue, little brushes and glitter in every color. 20 little kids would spend a happy afternoon making sparkly, magical, things....fabulous fun!
I just discovered Glitter Mod Podge - I've been coating everything under the sun with the stuff! My latest craft for my daughter is having her make balls of sculpey clay and have her press objects into them (like her fingers or the cheese grater), bake them off and then coat them in paint (or lately the mod podge). They are fun little gifts for grandparents (and don't take up too much space). You could even make them into magnets.
ReplyDeleteRight on, everyone!!
ReplyDeleteGabs, I must confess, I've converted to Aleene's decoupage medium (I work for them and get tons of it for free!). What I like to do is get white glitter and mix it in and it looks so pretty too! I have some water-based brush-on varnish in my product line and I mix glitter in that too! Or white craft glue! Or clear glaze! You can also mix it in petroleum jelly for your lips.
Oh gosh, I'm entering my own contest. I just get so excited about glitter!
I love glitter!! My favorite thing is to rubber stamp and pick out sections to glue then glitter for a very shiny card!
ReplyDeleteBesides mixing glitter into just about anything, I found edible glitter for my food!!
ReplyDeleteMy most recent favorite glitter activity was using it to embellish scrapbooking word art that I print out and frame for my home or gifts. I pick a phrase that suits the room and/or occasion and apply flourishes, loopy-do's and pretty things here, there, and everywhere until I have a super sparkly piece of art!
ReplyDeleteOh! And my second favorite thing -- cards with lots of glitter. I have two very girly-girl nieces and not only do they get cards with lots of glitter, but I sprinkle a bit more in the envelope. They get so excited when I send them cards...they know it will have a little bit of extra magic inside.
I use cosmetic ultrafine glitter in my soy wax candles sometimes--it makes a really cool sparkle when the candle burns.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite glitter story is when my dad painted my cousin's '32 Ford in metalflake. He'd never done it before and my mom waited until the radiator cover was dry to sprinkle some extra glitter on top. Bobby and Daddy were running their fingers over the car oohing and ahhing until they looked at their fingers. I'm surprised my mom didn't wet herself she was laughing so hard! That is some stubborn glitter, it moved with us from house to house and I still have the leftovers (it's called "Glowble" ) I like to use thinned down glitter paint to add accents to my art quilts and I like to use straight Glowble on shrines and such. So much fun!
ReplyDeletei love to put glitter in envelopes...spreading fairydust on people when they open it up... and i put glitter on my nails.. and i would put it on my cats and husband if they would let me.. lol lol after i saw your myspace bulletin i had to come and see this..love you..YVONNE
ReplyDeleteyaaaay! congrats! sorry i was too late : / great pack!
ReplyDeleteEveryday when getting ready to go face the world I throw a handful of ultafine glitter in the air then run underneath it. The glitter lands everywhere leaving little sparkly kisses. I've done this since middle school and continue to do it now even though I'm 27. It just makes me happy and my day a little brighter.

ReplyDeleteI think I sent in my comment like three times!! Sorry! I just now saw where it said that the comment needs approval. I'm such a goob!
ReplyDeleteOkay, this might be my new glitter project. I found this link on Craftzine blog. How to make your own glitter shoes, a la Dorothy. I'm think bright purple! I can totally see you making these: http://www.craftycrafty.tv/2008/06/how_to_make_your_own_pair_of_r.html
ReplyDeleteNow to figure which shoes to, um, sacrifice.
My all time favourite Glitter project was taking abaout 100 Styrofoam stars, painting them, then adding glitter. I strung them all together with shiny beads and had my own Christmas ceiling decorations, but i loved them so much i always get them out in October.
ReplyDeletehere is a very blurry photo of it all http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellipse/927765/in/set-23425/
My favorite thing to do with Glitter? Polish my toes! I love glittery nail polish.
ReplyDeleteSecond to that is using it on greeting cards. I try to always send handmade cards, and a little sparkle really gives a polished look.
toes love to use gliter polish. great for summer
ReplyDeleteI sometimes glitter the edges of the watercolored coffee filter roses I make, or I squeeze some Stickles Glitter Glue on my finger and run it across several petals.
ReplyDeleteOh darn! I just noticed that your latest post is not TODAY but from last Thursday. Oh well - next time :-)
ReplyDeleteI use glitter in many ways but one of my fav's is everytime I send a birthday card, or get well, confrads, I sprinkle a little glitter inside the card before putting it in the envelope.
ReplyDeleteThat was when then open it, not only do they get a reat card the also get a little celebration of glitter!!!!!
Everyone says that always look forward to getting my cards.
Also, at Christmas time, if I am one of the volunteers standing outside collecting, I have a ex large handeled shaker that I tie a bell to, and put Ice crystal glittter in it and everytime someone makes a donation I sprinkle Christmas Cheer, and the little bell rings.
We live in the south an never get snow, so my crystal glitter is my southern snow!
